Hi Juliana,
The user documentation component is task 2 of the outcome. This is stated as
needing to be a test or written report and only worth 15 out of the 60 marks
so should be much faster to complete than task 1 . I think most will do a
test as the more exam type practise students get the better, and tests are
easy to correct and out of the way in one class. This report/test also needs
to cover security and legal issues such copyright, privacy acts etc. For
task 1 (the program) only internal documentation is required.

Well Mark said we still need the input form, and the validation for that as
well. Would that be enough scope then?
It's much nicer to use a 2D array and text file then when we tried to
connect an Access database to the VB front end previously. That was messy
and huge.
What are you all using for the user documentation? Is it suffice to ask
students to make a simple "online help" website using Dreamweaver? In
previous years I have asked them to compile the help file webpages using
HTML help or something like that, created an index, and produced a .chm
file. That was an overhead and students ended up spending more than the 10
periods allocated for U4O1.

Is this all that's needed for the solution to this outcome? Seems 'not much'
given what my background is..(I kinda expected 'pages' of code compared to
this...).
Or do I just set the bar too high???
btw...I like the code Juliana has produced..nice! Its even in VB which
makes(for me) it even better...
I knew jumping on this list would reveal some gems! I look forward to
sharing when I make my own...

Thanks for the task Mark - it's been pretty interesting and I have gotten my
students to start working on this.
I have created a sample solution, it's little different to yours as I asked
the students to make the text file as:
Alex,56,45,78
Beth,100,98,95
Colin,56,79,82
Darcy,97,89,60
Egbert,62,71,62
So the records are going sideways and the scores are already percentages.
There's no input forms yet on mine for the teacher to add more students.
By the way, for the actual U4O1 task, do we need some sort of input form
where students will write to a text file, as they are marked on validation
techniques?

Where's my speaking trumpet? Hello folks. Calling folks.
Attached is a VB 2010 solution to the class data task for U4O1 that I upped
earlier. It contains sample code, screenshot of the form, and a text data
file.
May your camels be bountiful, but not too cute: that way madness lies.
