Subject: [Year 12 SofDev] Software Development text for 2011

Hi everyone,

Kevork asked me to email you all to give you some details of the text I am writing for the new (2011+) course.

The title of the text is: Software Development: Core Techniques and Principles.

I do not have an ISBN for you yet, but it will be a full colour text of about 200 pages. I am following the SD study design very closely with the aim of making the text as definitive as possible (that is, with as little 'extra' stuff as possible - although this is hard with some topics). The book will be available directly from me only (so not through any book-seller) - but I would be happy for schools to order X copies and then handle the distribution to students. The reason for using this model is that the cost of going through the booksellers means the price of the book goes up quite significantly. By using a direct order model, I go make the whole book full colour (which is quite expensive on its own). The price will be in the $50.00 range.

A few people have emailed me expressions of interest, and if you would like to be kept in the loop in terms of when it will be available or when preview copies are ready, please send me an email (off list).

Cheers,

Adrian
