Dear Judee and colleagues

As a general comment about definitions/glossaries, VCE IT is one of a
minority of studies that has a glossary. And, to my knowledge, IT is one
of only three studies that has a glossary in the study design, as
distinct from being in the Advice for Teachers, which has the status of
being advisory only. 

As stated in the study design (page 47), the glossary defines words and
terms used in the study design. Of course, different authors of
textbooks will have slightly different interpretations of some of these
terms, and these variations are taken into account when developing
examination questions. For school-based purposes, teachers (and
students) work with the generally accepted definitions.

Re: the definition of data tables, as distinct from structure charts and
data dictionaries, my understanding of a data table is that offered by
Alan Barnes - it's a basic table that shows the item, data type, length
and any comments. Yes, there will probably be variations of this, but
this is its general construct. A structure chart is used to typically
show relationships between tables in a relational database.

As you know, the study is being reviewed this year, and the Review panel
would appreciate any additional general or specific comments about the
study. Feedback already supplied via this listserv will be considered at
the next meeting of the Review panel. 

I would just like to make one point - the IT study design is one of the
most detailed studies - this has been done to assist in teachers in
transposing the intended curriculum into a real program.

G'day all.  I've finished the slideshows for ITA unit 3 theory.  Several

of them relate to year 11 and SD, so please excuse crossposts.

I winged it with the 'data tables' discussion.  If the study design 
doesn't bother defining stuff, I figure I'm allowed to do it _my_ way
:-)

Feel free to nitpick about interpretations of theory or bits you think 
should be added, changed, moved etc.
