Hello all,
Firstly I agree totally with Marks comment about the terms we need to know
being in the glossary and clearly explanations of how much details of
networks etc. we should go into eg. in SD do we do OSI layers? (I do
briefly).
I like the introduction of programming in Unit 2, but, unlike Mark, worry
that students coming through will not have any spreadsheet background.
I find the programming weighting in SD Unit 4 Outcome 1 does not reflect the
effort that students put into the outcome and find it very difficult to
distribute fairly the marks. I think a greater share to programming, and I
think it should come from Outcome 2 eg. Outcome 1 worth 60 marks total - 45
for the "solution" and Outcome 2, which is far less time consuming or
challenging or implying anywhere near the degree of knowledge and skills, as
being worth 40 marks for the total of 100 for that unit.

Subject: [Year 12 SofDev] Reminder: feedback on study design
Dear colleagues
Last week I posted a message inviting you all to comment on the strengths
and weaknesses of the study design. This information will be considered by
the Review Panel, which is charged with the responsibility of developing a
revised study design.
Suggested areas for comment include:
o suitability of outcomes
o workload
o clarity of language
o nature of content
o level of student interest
o balance between theoretical and practical components.
What do you like and don't you like about the study? We want to hear both
the strengths and weaknesses of the current study, because we are mindful of
developing a revised study which supports continuity of good practice with a
touch of innovation.
You can either post your comments to the list, or directly email them to me.
The panel needs to hear your thoughts!
Regards
Paula
