Some of the key events in Term 1 are:
VCE & VET IT Day | February 20th | Melbourne University | 8:30am - 3:00pm
VITTA is offering an outcomes based Professional Learning day to assist
teachers to implement the VCE Information Technology Units 1 and 2,
Information Technology Applications Units 3 & 4, VCE Software Development
Units 3 & 4 and also VET IT Certificates II & III with their students.
The presenters are an experienced team with expertise in the development,
assessment and management of the VCE IT and VET IT studies.
This day will suit both teachers new to VCE IT and experienced IT teachers
needing to refresh their approach or to incorporate new skills into the
planning and delivery of the IT study design for 2009.
VCE & VET IT Examiners Report | February 26 | Swinburne University | 4:30pm
- 7:00pm
These sessions have been developed to give teachers a review of the 2008
written exams. They will assist teachers wanting to maximise their
understanding of the exam, including the past performance of students,
general guidelines, and links between the exam and unit outcomes.
VCE for Newbies - SD | March 6 | VITTA Office | 9:30am - 12:30pm
Claudia Graham, well respected Information Technology teacher, Examiner and
past VITTA President will guide teachers through aspects of the VCE Software
Development study design. The half day session is designed for new teachers
or those who require a refresher.
VCE for Newbies - ITA | March 10 | VITTA Office | 9:30am - 12:30pm
Roslyn Meadows has provided professional support to teachers in Information
Technology Applications for many years. Roslyn will guide teachers through
key aspects of the study design, timing, work requirements, as well as
expectations of students. The half day session is designed for new teachers
to the study or those who require a refresher.
Don't Leave it to Chance... VET Interactive Digital Media and Cert III
Essentials | February 13 | Melbourne University | 8:30am - 3:30pm
Are you new to teaching VET Interactive Digital Media (formerly VET
Multimedia)? Or are you teaching Cert III in Multimedia (Units 3 & 4) for
the first time? If so, Friday 13th of February is your Lucky Day! PixelEd is
presenting a refresher day where experienced teachers of Multimedia will go
over the basics of the Units of Competence, share some assessment tasks and
show some examples of student work. Your chance to network with colleagues,
find out about resources and maybe even win the Lucky Door Prize.
Technology & Education Podcasting Workshop | Several Dates | Several
Locations | 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Callie Whelan, an experienced presenter from Beyond Chalk, an organisation
which has provided ICT professional learning sessions to hundreds of
schools,is presenting a series of exciting podcasting workshops. The
workshop is of two hours duration and covers an introduction to the latest
emerging technologies in schools, followed by a "hands on" session in which
participants make a podcast.
