Hi everyone (and apologies for the cross posts)!,
It is my please to announce the opening of the VITTA Programming Awards for
2009!
http://www.progawards.vitta.org.au/
This year we have tried to make the awards as open as possible by allowing
any software type to be used! There are four student categories of entry:
Primary Programming, Primary Games Programming, Secondary Programming and
Secondary Games Programming.
There is also a Teacher category this year!
Students are challenged to write a general purpose or game program that
addresses one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals in some
way. The amount to which the program is linked to one of these goals could
vary immensely, but students should be able to describe and justify this
link. You can find the Millennium Goals here:
http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/ and you will also find them listed on the
Programming Awards web-site as well as some program ideas!
Schools can send in as many student entries as they like - but must register
by the 24th August. If you do not have a good idea of how many entries you
will be sending in - have a rough guess. The main purpose of the
registration process is so that I can email updates and reminders out to you
(or the person who will be managing the student's entries from your school).
Entries may be new or existing programs (as long as they have not been
entered into the Programming Awards previously) - and (or course) must
address the theme.
All the best - and good luck!
