I have a degree in computers , worked for a computer firm and have many years yeaching experience.
I could only do the job with assistance from another technician initially.

Role - IT Technician /Junior Network Administrator 

Karingal Park Secondary College is seeking an IT Technician/Junior Network Administrator to assist in the day to day running & administration of all aspects of the IT across the organisation. There are currently over 1000 users, 300 workstations and 10 servers complemented by a large LAN & wireless infrastructure. You would be exposed to a diverse range of technologies including but not limited to, Microsoft Active Directory, Server 2000/2003, Group Policy, Cisco switching(VLANS), Windows XP/Vista & Apple Macintosh clients, hardware & software   The ideal candidate will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or 1 to 2 years experience as an IT Technician, Junior Network Administrator or similar role. Experience within the Education sector would advantageous. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills and the patience to deal with & support clients with a varying degree ICT competence. 

Duties - Duties will include but not limited to: 

Provide assistance and support to the Specialist Technician/Senior Administrator 

Provide support to the staff & students at the college 

Provide training and up-skilling of staff 

Administer & configure Microsoft Server 2000/2003 

Administer user accounts utilising Active Directory 

Administer, install & configure LAN/WAN & Wireless equipment 

Administer & configure Microsoft Group Policy 

Monitor server performance & disk usage 

Administer college VLAN's 

Configure, deploy & administer SOE utilising Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 

Configure, administer & troubleshoot workstations in a mixed OS environment XP, Vista & OS X 

Installation & configuration of Printers, Scanners, Projectors & peripheral devices 

Maintain & administer college Intranet utilising Microsoft SharePoint 

Monitor student computer usage including security & internet logs 

Troubleshoot PC hardware & software 

Logging & monitoring of Help Desk tickets in the IT SharePoint site 

Administer the college attendance system utilising RollCall software 

Administer the college reporting system utilising MarkBook software 

Ensuring consistent data protection utilising Backup Exec 

Co ordination of junior technicians & school based IT apprentices
