[Year 12 SofDev] Python for Soft.Devt.

I teach Soft Devt here, Python is free to download and use (the main reason
for using it) - www.python.org and is quite a nice "real language" to use -
lots of application (including Google, I believe) use Python, so the
students can see real world applications.  It also has a nice simple GUI
language that students can use for the Outcomes in U3O2 and U4O1.  A lot of
the students have used VB.Net in Yr 10 and I was keen for them to experience
other languages out there

Apologies for cross-posts.

At the insistence of the Copyright Officer at the VCAA I have removed all of
their copyrighted material from the IT Lecture Notes site, including all of
the exam post mortems, the course summaries, and the annotated glossary.

They tell me 'this is not considered an "educational use".'

I can't be bothered arguing with the VCAA lawyers about how many words I'm
allowed to quote, so there are probably not going to be any more IT post
mortems.

I'm just going to go away and mumble a lot now.

Interesting.... Are the programs freeware ?  I have started with VB.Net and
finding that the program is so bloated that it slows classroom work to a
crawl (although it is immensely powerful of course and apps have authentic
Windows interface look and feel....
Do you teach programming ??

I have put together a couple of tutorials for the students in using Python
and Tkinter and have attached them
here.  Feel free to use, if you are using Python as your programming
language - it's a fairly easy langauge to
get to grips with and the students are able to instal it at home for extra
practice.
