Hi
I have made an installation wizard to setup a Windows Domain Controller on Ubuntu 8.1. If anyone wants to try it out you can get a copy from my website - www.setschoolsfree.com
Basically it automatically allows the following:
1. Windows Authentication via Ubuntu ( You connect you your SAMBA Domain )
2. Single sign-on (OpenLDAP becomes your active directory)
3. When you add a student they automatically get a home directory and linux account.
4. Dansguardian true web filtering to stop students from visiting/downloading and viewing sites and media (Becomes your proxy).
5. Moodle install
Thing no yet done and will be included in future releases (Because I don't have time):
1. You will have to configure SAMBA manually to get the hard drives mapped to the students' Windows XP machine.
2. The firewall is not set up properly so you will have to do this yourself.
3. You will need to setup LDAP on Moodle manually.
4. I have not yet installed Joomla (I want to install this automatically in future releases)
5. I have not impletented automatic email creation yet.
6. You will have to manually assign disk quotas to students
7. A DNS Server is not yet setup
8. Some Other security tweeks
Anyway it is currently BETA but if you have tried to set one of these up before you will certainly appreciate a wizard to do it for you.
Too Little time :(
