[Offtopic] FW: 9 & 10 Courses

Hi Litsa,

We do semester courses as well.

Last year at  Year 9 we broke it up into two courses:


*         Professional web design - Flash and  Dreamweaver

*         Fun and Games - Scratch and Game Maker

At Year 10

*         Cell phone programming using App Inventor

*         Game Maker

*         Looking inside at computer at various parts and what they do (only about 3-4 lessons on this, no assessment)

*         Access Database (to finish off the semester while writing reports and an introduction for Year 11 IT)

I'm also looking at fiddling around with the course especially at Year 10.
I like the App Inventor but not too keen on doing Game Maker. Some have done it at Year 9 and it's the first group through to do it at Year 10.
Students have told me they don't mind doing it again but I'll see how I go. Then there is the group that didn't do it at Year 9.

Hello.

Our domain was looking at updating our 9 & 10 courses.
Is it possible to get some ideas some other schools are doing.
Sorry if this has been asked before.

We teach the following topics:

Year 9

*         Word (a very quick unit on mail merges - letters and labels)

*         Spreadsheets

*         Databases

*         InDesign

*         Theory

Year 10

*         Photoshop + Graphics theory

*         Dreamweaver + web design concepts/theory

*         Flash + animation concepts/ theory
