Love it !
States are all making their own mess of NOT providing curricula (merely
"blueprints" for a curriculum. Thinks..... would blueprints for sa house
meet the housing needs of Australia ?).
Great idea that the Fed is at least doing some spot checking re. how schools
are actually succeeding.
If the spot check is not good enough... suggest/ write/ commission a better
one !
Most critics just seem to say.... "Don't go there !"

Hi all,
So, over one million Aussie kids in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 are sitting
for national literacy and numeracy exams over these next three days.
Hmm .. does it seem odd to anyone else to have national tests without
a national curriculum? That is .. an exam, without a curriculum. Doh!

"The results from these national literacy and numeracy tests will provide an
important measure of how Australian schools and students are performing in
the areas of reading, writing, spelling and numeracy. "
Seem reasonable to me, since it's only a test. However, some might say that
it is none of the Fed's business because education is a state matter.
And I've trawled the web to find this quote from the first Simpsons episode
I saw:
"Now, I don't want you to worry, class. These tests will have no effect on
your grades. They merely determine your future social status and financial
success. If any."
