Hi all,
As much as any group, the Internet Society (ISOC) co-ords the web,
and this does seem a good idea. One day to celebrate the Internet.

The first annual OneWebDay will be celebrated on September 22, 2006.
The purpose of OneWebDay (see http://onewebday.org) is to celebrate the
human collaboration and connection the Internet makes possible.
How you celebrate is up to you .. the idea is to make the positive
aspects of the Internet more visible. If you wish to take part, you
could, for example, have a teaching session in your town for people to
learn how to edit a wiki or post a photo online. You could make it easy
for people to post tribute pages in honor of their friends, or sponsor
a "grandparents and grandchildren online" session in the town hall.
There's a OneWebDay wiki for collaborating on projects -- it's here:
http://www.onewebday.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page, and a web form for
registering projects if you don't want to edit the wiki
(http://projects.onewebday.org).
OneWebDay is one day a year when we all - everyone around the physical
globe - can celebrate the Web and what it means to us as individuals,
organizations, and communities.

Cheers all,
