I think the correct techo vernacular spelling is 'putar but the plural 
is commonly misspelt as 'putas, dropping the trailing r.

The slang has a curious link to Radoslave Putar, a media artist who 
presented report on a 1960's exhibition called "Cybernetic Serendipity". 
Perhaps his writings prophesised a choking NT and hinted at the birth of 
an OpenSource movement.
