Not any more. VITTA Committee of Management made the decision to open most
of it up last year so you can download to your heart's content. :-)

Stephen, all you need to do Stephen is create for yourself a free website
account then click download or search to dig about the integrated resource
bank that covers a range of resources. We even have a shopping trolley you
can fill to bulk up all those downloads into one handy file. Oodles of new
features and tools, welcome your feedback. Contributions welcome too!

DET have a fancy certificate based system that is supported on the PDA's
that we purchased. There are some details about this on the

PDA's with wiFi would allow the whole database to be managed centrally on a
server and accessed by SQL e.g. with web interface
(easier to write etc) PDA's with bluetooth would require an app to be
written for the pda itself so that it could store and display
data, accept input and later update the central server.

Strongly prefer PDA's with WiFi.

App NOT fully integrated within another package but with clear interface
specs would be far preferable.

For govt. schools, PDA's using WiFi will have to fit into DE&T WiFi security
standards).
Currently, request to DE&T IT re what PDA specs are needed has gone
unanswered.

Still collecting data.

staff member a wireless PDA works out at 25 cents per
class with the added benefit of knowing who the missing students are or
where they are,
5 min after the start of each class, not when the PDA's are returned at the
end of a route and not by using the free labours and
distracting efforts of duty students walking about. You could mark rolls
with a wireless laptop but the PDA's are instantly powered
on, robust and very easy to use. In addition, doing away with Form Assembly
gave us an extra 20 periods of time release for
coordination staff. Notices are instead read out during period 1 from a
Moodle rss feed (or web page). I have been asked to help
prepare a media release and launch during term 2.

I love that idea of PDAs!  When I was in Singapore recently, McDonalds was
using them with the girls walking down the queues taking
orders.

Tom,
When I worked at Katherine High School a few years back they had quite a
good system where you recorded the absentees with a 2b
pencil and a scanning sheet, the receptionist then scanned all sheets
through the special scanner.  I believe they upgraded after I
left and I am sure they wouldn't mind it if called them to ask what they
had.
