We've been using HotPotatoes, which builds a web page for you/ or can
actually be imported into moodle quizzes, which covers things like drag
and drop, cloze activities, multiple choice quizzes, and crosswords,
http://hotpot.uvic.ca/ is the website, it's free to download and use.
Once you've made your page you can upload it to moodle and it will score
it for you. We also use http://classtools.net which contains the
Dustbin game (for putting into different categories) which you can also
create your own content with that, save it and then upload that webpage
to your course. There are heaps of different templates for you to use
(I love the arcade game generator.) The problem with this is that it
doesn't automatically grade it for you in moodle : ( BUT the way around
that is the handy PRTSC button which captures a screen shot. We often
use this as part of an assignment where they have to upload their
screenshot when they have completed the activity. The correction with
that is simply that the teacher just has to go through and check the
scores. It seems to work well for us.
