[Moodle] Moodle addons

I have the portfolio add on set up..... but I couldn't work out how it
worked, until I enrolled myself as a student...

I will be trialling it this year where I can...

It seems to have a good interface, where the kids can add certain
examples of work to their portfolio, and then the teacher can view their
students portfolios. As I have nothing in them yet... it's a bit hard to
evaluate :-)

 

I found the blog function very basic, and good to get students used to
reflecting on work etc.

I've had a bit more joy out of the SPDC module than the Exabis module.
Certainly Moodle needs a really good integtrated portfolio but I don't
think these modules quite do it yet. I would be really interested in
what you found and how students reacted to using either one of them. I
was playing with the idea of using the blog part of their profile but I
guess this is a bit simplistic. Students need a repository in Moodle
where they can keep their files and be able to link these to their
portfolios simply and easily. The Elgg integration block is a good idea
but a bit of an over kill particularly for younger students. What do you
think?
