[Moodle] Mahara installation

I'm installing Mahara right now but haven't found any clear link to the
installation guide on their site. I've mucked around and got it opening and setting up its database but can't work out

1. How to create the admin user
2. How to set up my mail system so it works ok. 

I'm using an Ubuntu box. I think the lack of effective mail is blocking my user creation.
