Hi guys,

Has anyone used elgg for ePortfolio integration with Moodle. The link
below offers a Moodle, elgg (ePorfolio) and LAMS package solution.

I am very interested to hear if anyone is or has used this solution?
There is a elgg block in Moodle that seems to fit nicely.

Love the idea of Mahara or elgg but just looking at pros and cons of
both.

Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

This is how easy it gets with Mahara and Moodle.

When a student gets ready to upload an assignment, resource etc to
Moodle then there is an option to also add the object to their Mahara
ePortfolio. Their classes may come and go each year . but they get to
keep and manage their ePortfolio throughout their life at the college
with complete control over how they use, adapt and skin it.

It makes a lot of sense when you think about Moodle this way, rather
than try to be all things to all people .. this is where you tie third
party applications into it (supporting single sign-in etc.) Here is a
cool 9 min video that will walk you this process and explain how Mahara
works.

All up, it just uses the same PHP and MySQL tools that Moodle uses and
Kevork teaches in his cool text book. We are building our Mahara server
next week and it will be fun.

Thanks Stephen, I have looked at mahara before (quite a while ago) but
was not aware it could be used within moodle.
I shall investigate and let you know how it goes.

They are all quite complicated.

If you want something simpler, there is a moodle portfolio module that
just lets students maintain editable text fields online (I use it to
allow students to manage their goals and to extract some of their goals
in bulk for insertion into our markbook reports

Even simpler is to give students control of their own website within
your network, allowing them a 'free form" eportfolio that is completely
portable to a memory device when they leave school.

Has anyone had any experience with any of the elearning portfolio
modules.

I searched "portfolio" and came up with 3 - Exabis, Simple and SPDC

Has anyone used any of these, or does the blog work just as well?
Any recommendations would be great

Thanks
