Last week, my wife mentioned preparations at her medical workplace for a
bird flu pandemic. Here is an interesting post by a school district that is
using Moodle for a similar contingency plan.

We have been using Moodle here on a limited basis since version 1.0.
We run a typical LAMP installation on Debian linux.
Our school follows emergency response plans for a large county to the south
of us. That plan now calls for closing any school that confirms a case of
h5n1 bird flu for a 4 week period. While I have had a hard time getting our
faculty to take a serious look at Moodle, the administration decided to
require faculty members be prepared to take classes on-line if the doors
close. Moodle to the rescue [image: somriure]. I did a 90 minute
introduction and created a Moodle
workshop<http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=333>"course"
with resources, links and a few examples. It will be interesting to
see the responses and I look forward to a very busy computer lab this fall
!. Big thanks to Martin and all of the developers.
Our requirements for faculty preparedness:
* Built and ready in Moodle: 5 days worth of activities and assignments for
each class. ( as a head start)
* Current assignments maintained for one class of
choice<http://moodle.org/mod/data/view.php?d=13&rid=315>throughout the
academic year to keep active with Moodle.
* Course praparedness will be evaluated by a group of faculty members
