Don't know sharepoint, but suggets you ask if Sharepoint can match:
- free to everyone in the world i.e. we add strength to an Australian
originated and world wide renowned open source cf a private costly
locked up system.
- built in (rather than tweaked work-arounds !) to allow teachers to
- easily enrol students in courses and group them (without
intervention of tech staff)
- offer files to them (shoeprint does this well)
- collect their work (can share point easily allow submission of
work, keep it secure against others, alert you by email or online notice
when it is submitted, display a list of who has and has not submitted
etc)
- display assessment/ feedback comments (overall and inline with their
work) & grades securely and individually to students on individual work
and across a whole course
- offer built in features like the
- wiki and glossary that automatically link all occurrences of your
course keywords throughout your course
- questionnaire which allows easy creation (and analysis of
results) on a wide variety of question types
-
These are just my favourites....
- I think share point does mainly the discussion groups and file storage
and access.

Hi all,
thank you so much for the support so far,
My technician is trying to steer me towords using Sharepoint...
not having used either it sort of leaves me at his mercy a bit... I have
read through some of the moodle forums on comapring the two programs,
and their seems to be a definite slant towards moodle being the
preferred option (even schools using sharepoint have integrated moodle
into the system, as the collaborative tasks work much better with a
moodle environment.)
Personally I love the networking that is going on here, and see that as
a huge bonus to going moodle anyway...
I guess I'm just looking for some specifics I can use to argue the case.
cheers
