There is talk on the buglist of a request for an import feature using the
iCalendar fomat that will suit outlook and palm organisers. Not difficult to
do but they have to get it right the first time so expect a good beta test
cycle.

I would tagree with Phil. I did this to migrate from my workstation trials
to the production server at our school. Although it is generally compatible
between different versions, it is a good idea to endeavour to do the restore
to the save Moodle version.

You could try copying the Mysql data base and the data directory to your
Mandrake installation but I'm a bit rusty on this. Probably the best way is
to backup each course from inside Moodle (windows) and restore it on the
Mandrake installation. This would be the safest way.

We have recently started to setup moodle at our school for the first
time and we had been using it on a Windows machine we are now in the
position were we need to roll it over to a Linux machine.

Is it possible to keep all the settings that we had on the windows
version and restore them to the new Linux box.

We were running it on XP and will be going to Mandrake 10.1

I think it is possible but really want to make sure.

I stumbled across a survey about the deployment, features and
satisfaction
of users with a Learning Management System. We often place an emphasis
on
integration, perhaps at the price of end user satisfaction and learning
success.

Whilst assessment, reporting, tracking and compliance are important,
what
seems to be missing from most commercial LMS packages is reported to be
a
focus on the most valuable part of learning online: connection and
network
forming.
