Hey, Roly.

Welcome to the derelict ITAPPS clubhouse! I'm a bit nervous that good old
Kevork will find us playing in here and chuck us out.

I had to sit the plastic-coated  Wordperfect shortcut card above the
function keys so I could remember all the SHIFT-ALT-CMD-FN keystrokes.
Thankfully, I didn't join the Wordstar generation.

But memories of old DOS command line interface instructions still persist - dir
*.com /b /ogn >c:\list.txt
Ah, the happy/sad old days before GUI.

4KB of RAM. No floppy disks, mice, or sound. The OS was in ROM. No system
updates were downloading then!
My TRS-80 model 1 in 1978 didn't even have lower-case characters (LUXURY!).
Display resolution: 80x25. Monochrome, of course.
Can you imagine my joy when I got my first modem and connected to a BBS at
33 Kbps?
I could read the text faster than it could download.

But I was living in the bush (near Swan Hill) and every minute on the modem
cost megabucks because of the STD phone rates.
I think it took about 2 hours to download 4DOS (a DOS replacement) at about
60KB - and it cost an arm and a leg.

Happy horrible days.

Hang on. I just remembered that I didn't unsubscribe from the ITAPPS list.
Does this also mean that a lot of INFORMATICS members are also still
subscribed to this list?
