They are a great team at the DLTV office and whilst they don?t spam our lists with posts, they do read, reflect and respond to feedback. Often as easy as an email or follow up phone call. Glad you could work it out with them Carlo.

One of the concerns I have about these normalisation discussions is that there appear to be a lot of issues conflated into a single word 'normalisation', hence not leading to clear answers.
For example, when one says 'a clear and logical way to explain normalisation' does one mean:
- explain what normalisation is
- explain why normalisation is needed
- explain how to recognise when a set of tables is (is not) normalised
- explain what the normal forms are
- explain how to arrive at each normal form
- explain why each normal form is defined the way it is (what it is trying to prevent/achieve)
etc
