I fear Mid April could extend to Mid June. I think I’ll get students to cross it off the booklist. If it comes out at a reasonable time, We’ll buy it. Otherwise we will go it alone for 2016.
Sigh.

I was also informed of this textbook delivery date today. Mid April seems like a kick in the teeth. We have a new study design yet we can't access the appropriate materials to help us teach it? Seems unreasonable.... I have already ordered and distributed the sample Chapter 1 of the Informatics text (we have 2 classes this year - Woooo) however this will only last so far.
On that, has anyone else noticed in the Introduction that it includes information about Online Communities still for Outcome 1? I had to do a retake on the new study design to ensure this was an error, and yes, i found as we know, Online Communities has been removed. So just be careful. I told my students to cross it out from their texts. I know they are sample "uncorrected" drafts, but still surely that should have been removed?
Not particularly happy.

Hi all,
I've got an issue with no hardcopy solution for my year 11 students in 2016 like there is for my 12s. The Informatics people barely batted an eyelid when I said the textbook was delayed but "here ya go". Not sure how I offer a level of professionalism to my newly minted VCE students, saying "we are aiming for you to step up here...but you won't have a text for 1/3 of your course...enjoy my PPTs instead!"
Even for the 12s I've got to carry much of the early U3O2 lifting because you'd be mad not to at least make a start on this in Term 1 (when you won't have the textbook for any sort of guidance)
I'll probably be leaning on the old textbook for teaching U1O1 and U1O2 and am actually starting to lean towards teaching networks first as there's much the students can research on their own and online without reference to a textbook that at least in this particular area of study can be out of date (e.g. data transmission speeds) before it's even printed.

Hi Mark and Ben
At least this student could find their IT apps text book and the pages seem a little worn so probably someone got good use out of it.
If you really hated the subject no way you'd have kept the text, you'd have tried to sell it sneakily to next year's students near the end of term 3 for $20

O dear. That's not very fair.
The average undomesticated textbook is a lethargic and soporific parasite that lives undisturbed at the bottom of students' lockers until the end of an academic year when it transfers to a new host.
It is easily startled simply by being opened or read or (heaven forbid) attacked with a highlighter.
Hunting one for sport with a compound bow is like shooting a daft toothless cabbage, except at the end of a study design when all textbooks are fair game.
When consumed, I've heard that they tend to be bland, tough, hard to digest, and may cause nausea.

Good accuracy but low precision.
Bow-line is fine but may need to loosen up slightly to reduce tension and improve aim.
Needs to push on if they want to see their way though the entire text book.
My advice is to keep practicing.
