You make good point Ken!

The students I was reflecting on had little to no programming experience before landing in my class. One of the reasons scratch worked for them was that they could produce a satisfying result, and build computational thinking skills, without needing to worry about learning syntax.

However, students who have already developed a computational mindset will obviously want to extend themselves further.
