[Year 12 IT Apps] Database programs that are BYOD friendly.

When I was in the USA for ISTE2008, teachers that I spoke to were surprised at our particular Victorian obsession with MS Access. Filemaker certainly had the attention of the education sector there. From memory the site licence for FileMaker included student devices but I have no idea if that policy is still continued or how it worked.

It breaks some of the rules and queries are not done in a standard text book style but there are a lot of tutorials available and it’s very user friendly and surprisingly powerful.

With keypads maybe the Libre/Open Office DB would work, a nice thing about it is that you can point it to a MySQL db on a server if you have one set up. The not so nice thing about it is … where do I start? Documentation? Interface?
