[Year 12 IT Apps] Higher Ed in the VCE

Do you have students who are high achievers and want to study more IT at Year 12?


The Higher Education Studies within the VCE<http://www.swinburne.edu.au/ict/courses/undergrad/hesvce.html> Course gives students the chance to study first year university units while completing Year 12. They will receive credit for the units they have studied towards a relevant bachelor degree at Swinburne. Students must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in IT Applications Units 3 & 4 or Software Development Units 3 & 4, or have successfully completed VCE/VET Cert.III Media.


The course is recognised by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) and they will provide an ATAR increment as a fifth or sixth study score. A graded increment of 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, or 5 points will be included in the ATAR aggregate according to level of achievement.

What is Swinburne offering?

Creating Web Applications

Creating Web Applications (COS10011) will provide students with advanced skills and knowledge to develop web sites using HTML 5, JavaScript and CSS within W3C standards. Additionally, this extension study provides students with advanced skills and knowledge required to enhance the operational websites that have been designed in IT Applications.

User Centred Design

User Centred Design (COS20001) will provide students with the skills and knowledge to create appropriate prototype user interfaces, to justify design decisions and to critically evaluate user interface designs including the use of the Swinburne Usability Testing Laboratory. In addition, UCD will provide students with the skills and knowledge to ensure that any user interfaces are appropriately designed and effective, and accessible.
