[Year 12 IT Apps] Video Editing Software

Hi all,

I am looking for advice on good, generic video editing software that can be used across a secondary school, both by non-experts and more advanced users.  Obviously the cheaper the better! Is  anyone able to help with suggestions, both of what to try and what to avoid?
