[Year 12 IT Apps] HELP! Year 11 and 12 IT combined class

Hi everyone

Thank you for all your emails and advice. Honestly, I am not looking forward to being in this situation next year and it is very disappointing that numbers have decreased so much.

Those that have worked in this format before, did you find it distracting teaching the Year 11s while the Year 12s worked on their SACs? That is my main worry.

Also any resources that anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

I have been in this boat, it’s not easy. I now alternate ITA and SD, rather than teach units 1 and 2, with students from years 10-12 making up the class. It’s been a good compromise. For many of students both SD and ITA end up being in their top four ¾  units.

A warning though, expect the wrong IT unit to be put down in some piece of documentation each year eg booklist, timetable, selection sheets, VCAA enrolment.

Hi all

I have been teaching Year 11 and 12 IT for a few years now and they have always been separate classes. Unfortunately for 2015 it looks like the numbers have decreased and I have been given a combined Year 11 and 12 IT class (Year 12 IT Apps). Was just wondering for those that have done this before, can you please give me advice or guidance on how you made this work.

I know that some of the Area of Studies for both courses kind of overlap but not completely and not at the same times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
