Hi Rose.

The student netbooks are small/slow. 89% uptake, kids don't like them. 25 decent machines with the requisite software (like Filemaker, Dreamweaver etc) is easier to manage than trying to make a 25 seat license fit onto 50 student owned netbooks. Lots of installing uninstalling each semester.

Also they are companionable and will eat food scraps willingly.

We only have two high multimedia labs left. One for Visual Arts and one for Music/Movie subjects. These are small labs of 12 PCs.

All other students are on laptops 9-12, parent owned, student managed. I had a student coding last week on his phone as his laptop died.

Just wondering if there's anyone out there who has to operate purely with student netbooks/laptops when teaching IT. That is you don't have a computer lab with permanent computers.
