I also agree question 6's answer should be C, though I was going to say "A" at first, then realised the "enter a lot of data" phrase....

Regarding Q6 - I think with the info "to ensure the new solution does what it is intended to do" 'A' may very well be the best answer, however 'enter a lot of data' seems like a rather dodgy description of appropriate test data.
I presumed documentation should be part of the solution and should also be tested.
My guys drew a 1NF, 2NF and 3NF table for Q9. They complained this was a very boring question to complete.
No company management or decision questions at all???

Thanks, Heath.
My only discrepancy was Q6 - I suggested A, which while worded to make it seem haphazard, implies testing. I figured the other three would all be part of evaluation.
Section B Question 9 was a bit of a worry...Did they want the kids to draw a 2NF set of tables and then a 3NF set of tables? I just jumped straight to 3NF and described what it would look like at each step. (Didn't use the second page at all...)
Also, Section B Q6...did everyone interpret that as "Facebook. Discuss."?
General impression...apart from interpreting what the examiners actually wanted, it seemed like an easy paper.

A big thanks to Andrew Pate from my two (out of five) students who showed up to class this morning where we concentrated on "the big question". I thought VCAA might have made it a little more structured after last year's low response.
At least in this examiners report we will have a definite VCAA version of the normal forms. Hopefully it won't have any surprises.
Cheers,
Heath Matheson
