Having followed the other threads I see it is not your choice. It also seems like those who want to do SD will have chosen. What about these 1/2 students selecting SD in 2014?
Whatever the barrier, I'm sure you'll find a way to give the students the best possible chance. The good folks on this list are very helpful!
Thanks,
Andrew.

Most of our students who plan to go on to SD have already done a programming unit in Yr 10, and I make more time and activities available for them if they want or need them. Unfortunately, that's not an issue this year as we won't have a 2013 SD class.

That seems a concern.
What about students who want to go into Software Development? Are they getting enough lead in to that?
Thanks,
Andrew.

Hi Vera,
I've taught 11s and 12s together this year and will be doing the same next year.
I started the year with 2 different text books, but soon abandoned the Yr 11 book and focused on Units 3 and 4. Next year they'll all have the yr 12 book.
All worked through the Unit 3/4 course and we are, now that the 12s have left, completing the components of the Yr 11 course that we didn't do through the year - e.g programming, ICT careers . . .
Seems to have worked very well. Those 11s going on with Units 3 and 4 in 2013 are confident that they have a good start on the course.
Glenda :)
