[Year 12 IT Apps] Backups - definitions

Hi all,
I am unsure of previous discussions on the back up issue. They are similar process but they are not quite the same. The tracking of the back up tapes needs to be done differently in order to restore a system.
Full Back up - All files
Differential Back up - Requires full back up and then the follow back ups record files that have been changed since the full back up. So if a full back up is done on Monday, Friday differential will contain ALL changes since the full back up which would include Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Incremental Back up - Requires full back up and then each following back up records the files that have been changed on a daily basis. Full back up Monday the Tuesday will do changes on Tuesday, Wednesday will do changes on Wednesday etc etc...
Depending on which method you use, you will need to have a different log to follow to restore the data.
Again, not sure what has been said in the past. This information comes from what I learnt in my courses in IT. Hope it helps.

If you click on the image for the conference on the VITTA home page, there's a register and submit button at the bottom of the page. That will take you through the registration.
With sessions starting to fill, this week is good to avoid the crazy rush before sessions are booked out.

Just wanting some clarification re: Backup definitions. Specifically Full, Differential and Incremental. Is there a VCAA approved definition? Would appreciate any input before the exams.

Full backup is clear enough. I think we've argued about the differences between differential and incremental in the past, but I can't remember the result, if there was one.
With the kids, I only refer to incremental, and define it as a backup of data that has been changed or created since the last backup.
As far as I can see, it's effectively the same thing as differential.
