[Year 12 IT Apps] Unit 3 Task 2 - Technical requirements

Hi
  I have a question about Task 2 of Unit 3, outcome 1. With Technical requirements of hosting a website, do students just detail about eg.
1.Needing to register domain name, a host company
2. Having a web server and some PHP, database functionality
that's all, or do they need to go into detail about the cables, how the web server is set up so that
the web site can be hosted? Do students need to draw a network diagram for this part?

How many words approximately should this part of the written report take, how detailed should it be if students are to achieve full marks for this section?

thank you.

Hi Kate,

my students don't have access to multiple browers. We only have IE and that's all we use.

Hi,

I know from the study design that students need to understand that websites can appear differently in different browsers. During the sac do your students have access to multiple browsers to test their websites on?

Cheers,

Checking the 2007-2010 study design's glossary I find this:

"Constraints - Factors that must be taken into account when solving an
information problem.Typically these factors are classified as
economic, for example budget available to create an information system;
technical, for example availability, capabilities and limitations of
equipment;
social, for example, culture, ethnicity, age, location, education, special
needs and status of end-users;
operational, for example, the requirement to use specific techniques and
procedures."

Thus, technical constraints would not include budgets.

BTW - this is another good argument for continuing to fight for the
expansion of the glossary in future IT study designs!
