[Year 12 IT Apps] RDBMS systems

Hi Brad, 

 

In lieu of Mark Kelly's resoponse, I will suggest that you consider
Filemaker Pro.

 

I personally used MYSQL last year, moving to Access this year due to a
school partnership agreement.  I will most likely move back to MYSQL in the
future (The price is right and the design aspect is very simple.  Given that
there is no need to create forms & reports in Unit 3 Outcome 2 - I
definitely include these aspects in the design phase and they are required
to create the queries that would be used).

 

This can be extended with PHP (Some nice things you can do with Dreamweaver)
if wanting to take the database option in Unit 4.

I am new to teaching year 12 IT and we have been using Access. 

 

Could you recommend another RDBMS system for the school to purchase.
