Maybe I could use the mountain of lost property USB Sticks and solder them together...

I remember the Novell o/s when it came on 5.25" disks (2 of them and three disks of printer drivers)
The paper instructions came in TWO boxes each nearly a metre long!

Now that is what I call a door stop  ( * grin * )

Then it came out on CD and all the instructions were on disc. My door wept.

Ah but at one point in the early 1990's they just about gave away DBase III with a floppy disk tucked into a back pocket of every text book. DBase IV box was handy, if only for propping my office door open.

Does anyone still use FoxPro?  I used it in the old IPM SAC days, early 90s - can't remember why on I chose it...
Maybe because it was there.

Yes I remember doing that in cobol also. I have used sql, access, dbase 3, dbase 4, filemaker in quite a few versions, , hated doing database activities in spreadsheets esp using microsloth products on the dark side



At least you can pay bills online at the moment - my credit card is gone thanks to being cancelled due to fraudulent activity - might be ten days before I see the new one.

I have actually used cash to pay for petrol - felt very weird.



Database stuff - there are always new people to convert to the light -- "to normalise" so it is wonderful to revive an old old thread again now we feel "normal" (ised)

ok...so what about the OpenOffice people??   Oops..almost forgot those fruit loving vegetarians(Apple Mac users).


And just for a curve ball with a last minute left dip..I wrote a database years ago using COBOL. It ordered, sorted, colored, columned and printed but didnt make coffee, order lunch for you or park your car!! (it used a good ol comma delimited data file too)

(me? I've used Access, Clipper, Oracle. Have OpenOffice on my home box(saves $$ and space!)  and no, I havent used FileMaker, so cant comment on it.

Oh, yeah, we also must remember that DB apps can be made with spreadsheets too...just to throw a fly in the ointment here.)


......must be time to put the kettle on! Got no money left, just paid some bills online.....oh, and told an e-marketing crew to go jump!

As an Access developer I have never ever, and wouldn't ever use drop-down boxes on tables. Drop-down boxes are for forms and data entry. Don't confuse the issue. Tables are for storing data, forms are for entering and displaying, reports are for displaying data. You have to set up basic forms for data entry anyway.
