[Year 12 IT Apps] Google Wave

Useful for collaborative tasks (like U3O2) or for your school admin and
classes.

They just keep coming and getting better.  At McKinnon we have Google email,
docs and forms; we have Ultranet wikis and blogs; we have our website and
intranet...

Soon we may also have Google Wave, which is a real-time collaborative tool
that (like Google Docs) lets multiple people discuss issues.
It's also like instant messaging but with groups of people and their typing
is shown in real time rather than when they hit ENTER.
It's a bit of a hybrid tool, like the iPad.

There may be challenging issues with students having access to such instant
messaging in class, but it would certainly be useful for staff to have
impromptu meetings without traipsing all over the school.

In the past, it was frustrating not to have the tools we needed to work
efficiently.  Now it's getting hard to choose the best tool for a given job
out of all the tools we have available!
