G'day

Thanks for the assistance so far.

The Moodle versions are the same.
The php.ini values are the same.

The only document added in by OSX is '.DS Store' file.

The following were tried with no success ...
• Deleting '.DS Store' from the ZIP archive
• Using YEMUZIP software to make a PC-compatible ZIP
• Transferring the ZIP to Windows machine, unzipping, deleting the'.DS Store' and re-zipping

I get as far as the following -

'....
Checking Backup file
Reading Backup file'
at which point the Restore stops. Nothing further happens no matter how much time is allowed.

Thanks Graham

Versions - are your two Moodle versions the same?
File sizes - are the POST and File Upload values set the same in Moodle and
in the php.ini files on both installs?

Something that may help re zip files (the format for Moodle course backups)

I've had a bunch of zip files sent to me from a Mac user and when viewed in
a PC unzip program there is a bunch of "extra" mac-specific
metadata information. Humans can just ignore this, but maybe not Moodle. I'm
not sure if OSX adds this extra stuff to all zip files in its file system
even when created elsewhere, but if it does they may well be the source of
the problem. How you can test this I'm not sure, but there are numerous
programs that convert Mac zip files into PC zip files for compatability
reasons. http://gotoes.org/ZipMacFilesForPC/index.htm<http://gotoes.org/ZipMacFilesForPC/index.htm>
and
http://www.yellowmug.com/yemuzip/ explain it a bit, though I guess the
easiest way is to see what a PC makes of your Moodle course zip files.
This is consistent with the problem: Macs would interpret the simpler PC
etc zip format, but not vice versa
