Subject: Apple laptops on an XP server...
Hi folks, sorry bout this post, but our techie here is currently testing out a new Apple laptop prior to us shortly getting some (about 10) of them plus other IBM clones as part of our hit of Rudd funding.
Seems there's some hiccups in trying to link up the little white box(its so pretty!) to our server which is XP based. Also, some staff here with new Dell laptops got them with the VISTA OS and appear to be having some hiccups too when talking taking their profiles from their laptop to the network machines(XP based in the classes).
Seems the most common hiccup I am hearing of is the good ol printing issue (compatibility of drivers etc.).
Would any techies out there be interested in sharing some tips and experiences with my guy here to help get the transition up and running smoothly?
Hint hint...ROS and Roland...
I am personally even now considering for my next box either a Netbook with an external hd or an Apple Mac notebook..(Hey Ros..whatcha reckon?).
Yep, I am now of the idea that perhaps I could end up owning a little white 'puter (or some other more blokey color!)..
Well folks...any comments or helpers..
I can pass your offers of assistance to my techie here..he's lately been seen with a little white laptop in his grasp, and I've seen the eyes of other staff light up! I am sure you experienced techies who've been through this would be invaluable to my bloke here! Pleez, any info sharing would be gratefully appreciated by the anxiously anticipating staff here to speed up the processes and setup time.
Cheers.
Kent.

Perhaps, but be careful not to confuse 'testing' with 'validation':
Testing is about 'solutions'. It seeks to find errors in output that are
caused by faulty processing (manual or machine-based). The faulty processing
could arise from errors in design or errors in implementation (or both).
Validation, whether manual or machine-based, is about data. It seeks to find
errors in data and bring it to someone's attention. It happens once the
'solution' is fully implemented and working and is (or should be) part of
the 'solutions' normal operation.
