Hi Claudia,
Yes, it's tricky doing fancy stuff, but for ordinary mail merges such as
names/addresses, tickets, certificates, etc, it's really quite easy.
1. Set up the Excel spreadsheet as your data source. Give each
column a heading, such as Name, Address, Suburb, State, Postcode.
2. Populate the worksheet and save it.
3. Set up your Word document, having planned where the merged
fields are going to be.
4. Go into the Mailings tab.
5. Click on Select Recipients in the Start Mail Merge group of the
ribbon, select Use Existing List.. here drill down to the saved
spreadsheet.
6. Select the worksheet within the spreadsheet (if applies).
7. Position your cursor wherever you want the insert a field, then
in the Write & Insert Fields group click on the Insert Merge Field
option. The list of fields drops down. Select the field.
8. When all fields are in, you may either Preview Results or
Finish, as you like.
Office 2007 has really simplified the merge process for simple merges.
Just look along the ribbon. At left you can set up labels or envelopes
if you need to, then moving right you start, then write & insert fields,
Preview Results and Finish.
I guess people who don't have Office 2007 can't see it.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] OT- Mail merge and word
Hi all,
Sorry for the OT request, but thought I'd rather post here then reinvent
the wheel!
Does anyone have a short instruction sheet on mail merge with excel in
Office 07?
Thanks
Claudia
