Just doing some net surfing on PM just for my own curiosity..
came across this article and thought it may be of interest to some, it actually is quite a simple to understand, if not a bit long, article. Down the bottom of the article is a 'next' button for those who wish to read on.

Hate to sound like a broken record but I have to agree with Kent, Anne and Robert - 8 hour round trip for me - with the CO2 and the risk of being on the road for that long. Surely at the least the session could be videos and a DVD made available.

How do we look as IT teachers if we can't use the technology.

While I am now semi-retired and actually living in Richmond :-) can I be allowed to agree with Kent. I was in Mirboo North and Traralgon for 22 years before moving to Melbourne in 2005.

Short, after school, pds in the city are really b***** all use to teachers in regional areas. Look at the logistics: a two hour pd session plus, for Kent, six hours travelling - driving of course.

Six hours driving! How many tonnes of CO2 is that worth?

So please VITTA put more effort into arranging on-line pd.

Should save you costs ( no venue hire for example) and make the pd available to everyone at minimal cost.

PS As a retired teacher, can I suggest that VITTA considers following the example of STAV and having special lower prices for retire teachers

> Once again, just the PD I'd love to attend but am 3hrs away!
> C'mon VITTA, you said you guys were going to help us rural folk out back a few weeks on this very issue with PD. This bloke, if he's come from NZ, surely you told him before he arrived that we had this issue and could he help out with a 'rural tour'!
>
> Heck, if the 'Rogue Traders' can do a tour of the bush...why cant he?
>
> For me to attend it would cost me 2 days time unless I drive home and arrive at about 1.00am the following morning! (then its just 1 day)
>
> Give 's a break and offer something we CAN attend!! PLEEEEZ.
>
> I'd like to build my PD hours up too, but it seems being a rural teacher is going to prevent me getting my compulsory 20hrs per year. (Thanks VIT for THAT one!)
