[Year 12 IT Apps] Re: Teaching ITA to Yr 11s

MessageThis obviously changes over time as the universities, through VTAC, change their requirements and as the VCE changes. The VICTER 2008 manual, the one current for students in year 12 this year states that (pages 7 and 8):
"no more that two IT studies. . . can be included in the Primary Four. . . . IT studies include: VCE Information Systems; VCE Information Processing and Management; and VCE VET Information Technology." So it would seem that students doing both this year have been able to count both towards their ENTER and this seems to continue into the future - at least up to 2010.
Of course this VICTER was written before ITA and SOD started as the VICTER is written for year 10 students planning their courses, ie for this year's year 12s the VICTER 2008 was written in 2005.

I don't believe this is correct. The Victer 2010 publication (available from the Career's teacher) page 8 indicates that you can use either IPM or ITA and Info Systems or Software Development in your ENTER calculations.

here is the problem with that.... the students can only use the score from either ITA or SOD to assist them in getting into the university as I had a student who tried both and it was rejected...
hope yours had better luck.

I offered IPM(ITA) in one year and Info Systems(SOD) in the second to
overcome this problem.

Oops, my mistake! That sounds much more sensible, although what do you
do with the kids who want to do 2 years of IT?
