Still working on it here. Who was it that invented Part-time positions?
I'd like to have close up discussion with them.
I've blocked all electives except the compulsory classes which will run
as roll class groups so I can place wherever they fit.
But the blocking has worked well for me helping to identify clashes and
other problems. Some part-timers can't get a day off here because of
other part-timers who must have a day off.
If you need a hand get back to me. Also flat out here with reports and
marking. My weekends have disappeared-
Someone should tell that Brumby (Premier of Victoria by default), that I
require a pay rise and that if he doesn't think so then he deserves a
size 20 boot up you know where.

PS I'm sti! ll struggling to build next year's timetable. Are there
other schools out there still hiring staff?
Still working on ours ...
school still interviewing for one Sec posn (Text/ Home Eco) and three
Prim posns
just had an external candidate turn down a Leading Teacher posn,
anothert LT position no appointment,
another internal teacher still awaiting results of interviews for
regional posn,
another just told us he won't be returning after LSL semester 1 next
year,
4 periods Maths, 4 p Sci, 8 p PE uncovered (and no appropriate staff
available),
two textiles classes in the same room at same time for three periods,
staffing figures into deficit so boss does not want to employ anyone
else
... .. thus the variables continue to fluctuate ....
but I have! to have a new timetable up and running for the next two
weeks starting Monday - HeadStart program .... complications for this
include
one Sec staff member finished today (retired) so not available next week
Primary classes using Sec staff (ICT, PE) now clash with new Headstart
timetable (rooms and staff) so Prim staff lose APT (not happy)
one Prim staff member still away sick (seven weeks)
one Sec staff member medical treatment all next week
another Sec staff having wisdom teeth out - at least two days away
two of 2008 Year 12 teachers on LSL
plus reports due on Wednesday
... staff wonder why I look worn down ...
