You are actually removing some characters from the phone number data and building them into the file formatting.
When you exported the data for use in another application, OR needed to utilise a different starting digit at some future date, then
all previously entered data would then be revealed to be incomplete in terms of their ability to connect to the correct phone.

Hi Litsa
I have attached a Word document showing the input masks as well as another copy of the Access File: db11.mdb to demonstrate what I
did to enter phone numbers using both text and number data types.
Additionally, I created 2 extra fields to enable entry of an area code as well as a phone number.
Using the input mask forces the "0" at the start of the the area code. This could also be used for mobile phone numbers.
