Hi Russell,

>Firstly, is it actually necessary to get more people to go into the
>career? Is there a shortage? (The only reason I ask, is there's
>always this push to get people into science when in fact there's a
>surfeit of qualified scientists. Just making sure the same doesn't
>apply in IT and games development in particular.)

There is actually a big shortage of IT graduates - and lots of demand in the
industry. One of the reasons that students may not be electing to undertake
an IT subject is because of a perceived lack of opportunity in the industry
(as a hangover from the dot-com crash). Certainly, if this is the only or
main reason that a student does not select an IT subject, then we need to do
what we can to explain that this is not the case.

>Secondly, I'd say the best way they could help us or themselves is to
>put on more holiday games development workshops.

The holiday workshop idea is a good one - thanks!

Cheers,
Adrian
