I would love moodle to be able to auto-sychronise with Google calendar, then we could publish there and
encourage staff to subscribe to the school calendar and use the free SMS event warning service....
fantastic... don't know how they pay !?

I use moodle's messaging and forums to broadcast messages to students. Because we've locked down enrolments to
vaild Pascoe Vale Girls College email accounts the messages reach them there. Moodle Meta courses are nice for
this as well. Similarly we reply to students' college accounts instead of their Hotmail. Gmail is a bit of an
exception here as we are exploring it for collaborative document preparation.

We normally post general messages on the school intranet which get read out in pastoral. Also, when students
log into the Internet, the first page they seen is the daily school bulletin (on our intranet).

Our principal has also made it an expectation that we communicate to our students through the school's email.
If students contact us throught their personal mail, ie. hotmail, etc. we must reply to their school account
as professional protocol and the students know this.

It seems to work. The messages get to where they're intended.

Michael

Your blunder may be just the catalyst to start a thread on how schools communicate with there students.

It would appear that you communicating with your students via email is a very 'normal' thing for you.

How do others see this? Progressive or 'normal'?
