Hi Keith (again)
We have used HP machines for about four years now and have had almost no
problems with them at all. The newest ones we have (since Dec 06) are
HP7700s.
The Dells 520s we have over in the Junior School are also excellent - but I
prefer HPs (I wasn't keen on the rep from Dell!)
No probs with either machine - terrific quality and has all your
requirements. In my opinion, they need at least 2 USB ports at the front of
the machines. Very little has ever gone wrong with them and usually it's a
24 hour turnaround, when they bring a part and fix on the spot. Nothing has
gone wrong with the Dells in the last two years and only a couple of hard
drives on the HPs. Pretty good equipment.
I hope it helps.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] Advice Request - Workstation Purchase
Hello All - thank you for your recent help oin my last query - most
appreciated.
Our IT committee has asked me to fire away another query:
We will be buying approximately 40 workstations (computers in Primary
classrooms) running XP, with the usual paraphenalia, such as CD/DVD,
USB2 socket, Firewire, Sound card, ethernet card, etc. For me the most
important thing is top have reliable back-up service when things go
wrong, ideally where they will come in and fix the machine.
Up till now we have purchased locally, but I have been asked to spread
the net more widely, for comparison at least.
Any recommended suppliers, good experiences stories etc?
Cheers, Keith
Keith Richardson
