[Year 12 IT Apps] Non ITA list content --- from the Administrator

Hi Folks and Colleagues,

This issue comes up every six months and is never satisfactorily resolved.

From my point of view the following are the issues:

   1. Despite the presence of 20 , yes 20 different lists with memberships
ranging from 50 to over 500, all related to IT, the itapps lists
remains the "go to " list whenever there is a question on any topic -
even non IT.
   2. Not all IT teachers are itapps teachers. Many schools no longer have
itapps running and so valuable information never reaches those people
unless they join or remain on the itapps list.
   3. Those who are itapps teachers may not be working on or responsible
for OT posts that only dilute the rightful place of the itapps list to
help teachers teach itapps. So, their frustrations rise as they have to
wade through the chaff to reach the wheat. This is known as a high
chaff to wheat ratio list due to the non itapps posts.
   4. A high number of non itapps posts reduce the quality of the itapps
list. It can charm, but usually frustrates subscribers.
   5. Several years ago, an offtopic list was set up specifically for IT
teachers. Let's use it and get onto it.
   6. Let's redirect or repost messages to the right list so we can better
manage the content of each list for the task it is intended.

Surely as IT teachers we are capable of using the technology correctly.
Let us encourage ( not criticise or condemn ) each other to use the
correct list for the appropriate topic.

Happy hour in 10 minutes ....... bring it on

Best Wishes
