Thanks for a great resource Antonia.
For 1a I'll add some info about how the data is currently processed. I 
read that Fitz uses a calculator to work out commission but did I miss 
how he records the sales data? The sample data suggests it comes from an 
existing database.

I'd be interested to know how much help others are giving their 
students. I never give them the fields or conventions or details of the 
project plan. I expect them to figure those out for themselves from the 
stated information required in reports. When I use case studies 
requiring an upgrade of an existing database system, I give them fields 
that must be changed to meet the new requirements eg the name field 
containing both first and last names, and the whole address in one 
field.  Especially now they only have two assessment tasks to do instead 
of three, I think we can expect more from them.
I just checked the advice for teachers in the study design and the 
sample task on p69 is also limited on help for the students (and no I 
didn't write it!)
