We are about to have a disaster!!!!

 

B-Block and C-Block are to be demolished within a couple of weeks (7 portables - the oldest and ugliest ones they had - have arrived to take their place)  so all our curriculum network and internet servers, and 3 computer rooms (one of macs) are about to be removed and set up in D-Block. Also the library and associated servers are to be moved into the admin block. The Principal and IT Tech say we will be fortunate if we have anything that vaguely resembles a network or the internet... (not that we have anything that vaguely resembles the internet atm seeing we are limited to educache!!)

 

It might be fun trying to teach IT using standalones!! Fun and games!! Will keep you posted...

Hmm, testing the recovery of files from the backup tapes? 
Simulating a server shutdown with a electrical failure by power cycling a UPS? 
Pushing the red button on a power board to see what happens?

Spring is in the air and a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts 
of the ITA study design.

ITA Key Knowledge Unit 4 Outcome 2  Dotpoint 5 is "Disaster recovery
strategies, including testing."

I've been wondering how testing can help one recover from disaster. 
Sure it can help _prevent_ disaster, but that's not "recovery".

How does testing help after the disaster has struck??

Any ideas?
